Hi all! I have been MIA for quite a while now. This year has been beyond strange as I’m sure you all are aware. I started to feel really down at the beginning of the year and not like myself at all. I was really struggling and then the quarantine happened which made things feel even weirder. I decided to take advantage of my new work-from-home schedule and take a break from my blog and social media to work on myself. Honestly, I think working from home has been the best thing to happen for me both mentally and physically. Even though things are still crazy out in the world right now, I feel like I’m in a much better place.
I thought I would share a few of the things I’ve been doing the last few months to keep myself sane and to boost my mood.
Exercise
One of the biggest changes I have made in the last few months has been working out every weekday. When I worked in the office it felt impossible to find time to work out. By the time I got home I didn’t want to do it and I am NOT a morning person so that wasn’t an option. Now that I work from home, I spend my lunch hour working out and it has been the best thing for me. Not only am I feeling stronger and toning my muscles but I also feel better mentally. Since cardio is not my cup of tea, I knew I needed to find something I could motivate myself to continue. I found Coach Kel on YouTube and her Barre videos have been amazing. Her Taylor Swift Lover workout series is my go-to but all of her videos are great!
I’ve also been doing a lot of Bailey Brown’s 5 minute workout videos. A friend of mine recommended her to me and now I love to add her workouts on to my Barre workouts. Her Muffin Top Meltdown video is one of my very favorites! I really love all of them though!
Supplements
In February, I experienced an allergic reaction and broke out in hives on my face and down my neck and my face got super swollen. I went to the doctor and unfortunately we couldn’t determine what caused it. Ever since that happened, I have had terrible cystic acne along my jaw. It is so painful and as someone who has never had acne, I was really struggling with my appearance. I didn’t want to take any photos for my blog or instagram. I didn’t even want to put makeup on because I was terrified I would make it worse.
A friend of mine suggested I look into some supplements that helped her with her breakouts and I figured it couldn’t hurt. I signed up for Hum Nutrition and have been taking the supplements for 2 months now and already am seeing an improvement in my health and appearance. I love Hum because you take a quiz to find which items will work best for you and the amount of discounts they give is amazing! I get a new box every month and can add/remove anything I want to. If you are interested in trying them, you can get $10 off with my referral code: 238F98.
**I am in no way sponsored by Hum. Just wanted to share something that has been working for me!
Supplements I Currently Take Daily:
- OMG! Omega The Great– Fish oil for skin, heart and brain. I feel so much more hydrated since starting this AND no fish taste AT ALL.
- Daily Cleanse– Cleanses body and skin of toxins. I already feel less bloated since taking these.
- Skin Squad– Clears skin and nurtures gut. I’m hoping the combination of Daily Cleanse and Skin Squad help to clear my skin. So far my skin already looks way better!
- Hair Sweet Hair– Helps hair growth and maintains color. I’ve seen the biggest change so far taking these! My hair is growing faster, feels stronger, sheds less and I’m not seeing as many grays. Also, my fingernails are so much stronger and smoother. Super impressed with these!
- Raw Beauty– Superfood powder for healthy skin and improving energy level. I love this powder for an afternoon pick me up. I just add one scoop of the powder to almond milk. It tastes sooo yummy and stops me from snacking all afternoon.
- Collagen POP– Collagen tablets that dissolve in water. I use these on days I work out to help hydrate me and boost my collagen levels. I just drop a tablet in water and it dissolves while I work out.
Quarantine Reading
I’ve spent most of quarantine reading. In fact, I’ve already read 25 books this year! I typically read thriller/mystery/horror books but lately I have found myself reaching for some lighter material. Reading has always been a way for me to drown out what’s happening in my life and the world so I feel like this year it has been so necessary to escape. I’ve come to find I really enjoy the “romance” genre as it’s like reading your favorite rom-com.
Books I’ve Read Recently and Recommend:
- The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
- To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han (All 3 books in the series)
- Open Book by Jessica Simpson
- Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
- The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
I’m hoping to get back into the swing of blogging soon. I’ve missed it but I definitely needed some time to myself. It’s been a nice break to just spend time with my family and work on myself. I hope you all are holding up ok! What have you been doing during quarantine?
