I’ve been a little MIA lately but I have a good reason! Last Saturday we got a second dog, another Pomeranian, from a rescue and it’s been a crazy few days trying to get him acclimated. I definitely underestimated the amount of work a second dog would be! He is a great addition to our family though and we are so happy to have him. His name is Boogie and he is such a sweetheart.
Anyways, I wanted to share a little bit about my nighttime skin care/beauty routine and which products work for me. I’ve been using the same products for quite a while and though I do try new ones, I’ve found that most of these are my go-to products.
Current Nighttime Routine:
Washing my Face
The first thing I do before bed is remove my makeup and wash my face. I’ve found that the Neutrogena Cleansing Towelettes are the absolute best because they remove waterproof mascara easily (I only wear waterproof mascara).
I don’t like the feeling of the cleansing towelette by itself so I always use water to wash my face afterwards and then dry it with a towel. I wish I could just use a cleansing towelette and then go to sleep but it just makes my skin feel greasy and not as clean as I’d like it to be.
Eye and Lip Treatments
Once my face is sufficiently clean, I use my Lush Lip Scrub to remove any dryness from my lips and then smother them in lip balm (My favorite since high school has been Softlips Vanilla).
Next, I’ll use my GrandeLash Lash Enhancing Serum. You just use the little brush to paint it on like you would eyeliner on your top lash line. I’ve been using this for almost a year and I have definitely noticed a difference in my lashes. I’ve actually had to stop using it every night just because I felt like my lashes were getting a bit too long! This is the only lash serum I have actually tried but since it works really well for me I don’t see a reason to switch it.
My favorite part of my routine would have to be using my Lancome Progres Eye Cream. I’ve been using this for about a year and a half and I love it! I dab it under my eyes as well as up and around the sides of each eye. Before I started using this eye cream I could see the start of crows feet on the outside corners of my eyes and since I started using this you can barely see any wrinkles there! It’s truly amazing and so moisturizing! The little jar lasts forever too because a little goes a long way.
Skin Care
While I’ve been lucky in that I’ve never had acne prone skin, I do get the occasional pimple. If I notice that I have a spot showing up somewhere on my face, I’ll just dab a very small amount of Zapzyt on it. I’ve been using Zapzyt since high school and it’s really the only thing that works for me. As long as I use a very thin layer, my pimples will usually be significantly smaller or even gone the next morning. This stuff is a lifesaver!
The nighttime moisturizer I’ve been using for years is the Benefit Total Moisture Facial Cream. My skin can get pretty dry, especially my nose, cheeks and chin area. This facial cream is thick and perfect for the winter time but I’ve been looking for something to use during the warmer months. My friend who works in the makeup department at Nordstrom gave me a sample of the Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv Ultimate Diamond Transformative Energy Creme to try. Now, just a heads up, this stuff is super expensive. I will not be purchasing the full container of this (unless I somehow come into some money) simply because it’s out of my budget. But, the sample is pretty generous and I’ve enjoyed trying it out. It really does feel amazing on my skin and if you have the budget for it, it’s a great option!
I’m still on the lookout for a lightweight face moisturizer to use for the Summer so if you have any suggestions, please let me know in the comments! I hope you enjoyed seeing what my current nighttime routine is, I know I love seeing what other people use for skin care before bed!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
