If I’m being completely honest, I’ve gotten really lazy about my style the last few years. My current job allows me to dress casual so it’s so easy to throw on leggings and a sweatshirt day after day. It has to be a pretty special day for me to even do my makeup most of the time! I feel like I’ve fallen into a style rut of wearing the same things over and over again and part of my reason for starting this blog is to put more effort into my style and to hold myself accountable. I’ve put together a list of a few style goals for 2018 that I hope to achieve.
Wear more of my clothes
First and foremost, I have a closet full of clothes and I still wear the same things over and over again. So I either need to get rid of the items I will never wear or start wearing the items I have. We moved during the summer last year and though my closet is no longer a walk in (sooo sad), I finally feel like I can see most of the clothing I own. I’m looking forward to trying to incorporate clothing I forget about into my daily rotation.
Accessorize more
Another exciting thing that happened when we moved was I found all of my jewelry and accessories! I finally got them all organized where I can find them and it’s so nice to be able to see everything. I am terrible at remembering to put in earrings or find a necklace to go with my outfit. One of my goals this year is to actually wear the accessories I own! Making the space where I put my jewelry look cute doesn’t hurt either!
Step outside my comfort zone
There are a lot of trends lately that I feel like I just can’t wear or I’m not much of a fan of (sorry crop top!). So many things I see look cute on other people but I just can’t bring myself to wear them. I’m hoping to find a way to branch out and try a style I might not normally try this year. In the past, I’ve had certain things I didn’t like such as booties and leggings as pants (crazy I know!) that I am now obsessed with. I only realized how much I loved them after I convinced myself to try them. So here is to a year of trying new things and stepping out of my comfort zone!
Find the perfect pair of cutoff shorts
I have the same dilemma every summer: tons of cute tops and nothing to pair them with. For some reason, it is so difficult for me to find cute cutoff shorts that fit well. I have cotton shorts and colorful shorts but no denim shorts to wear with any top. I spend most of my summers in dresses and rompers because it’s easier than finding shorts and tops that go together. I’m determined this summer to find the perfect pair of denim cutoffs to pair with all my cute tops! Recommendations would be extremely appreciated!
What are some of your style goals for this year? Do you have a favorite pair of cutoffs?
